Majors in Migrant Health and Healthcare through Program II
Elaijah (he/him) is an undergradute senior pursuing an individualized degree titled "Migrant Health and Healthcare: Access and Application." Elaijah's community engagement and research interests have focused on food insecurity and language-concordant healthcare access for immigrant and refugee populations in Durham and North Carolina.
This fall is Elaijah's 4th time in the SLA position, currently working with Professor Eileen Anderson and with Spanish 308S: Latinx Voices in Duke, Durham, and Beyond, coordinating service opportunities across Durham engaging with Latinx community members in various capacities, including La Iglesia Emanuel's food pantry and tutoring program, Lincoln COmmunity Health Center's Pediatrics Unit, and food distributions at Durham Community Food Pantry and Root Causes' Fresh Produce Program. Elaijah has previously worked with Spanish 205: Advanced Intermediate Spanish working with Root Causes and Documentary Studies 332S: Farmworkers in North Carolina working with Student Action with Farmworkers.
