Major in Health Disparities in Latinx and African American Communities through Program II

My name is Hanny Echeverria and I am a junior in the class of 2025. I am a program II major titled Health Disparities in Latinx and African American Communities: Health Policy and Activism. My time at Duke has been spent volunteering, dancing with the Nakisai African Dance team, attending Mi Gente and SOCA events, as well as founding and leading the new on-campus organization Sabores Afro.

As an SLA, my job has been attending classes with Bethzaida Fernandez as well as the adventurous academic excursions around Raleigh and Durham to learn more about the Latinx experience in North Carolina. I am also in charge of emailing community partners and updating them on student placement. I also facilitate Blog Reflections where students write 3 blogs a semester.
