Students collaborate with Duke's Innovation in Health program in small teams of 3 to 5 people, working on an innovative solution to a problem. Students connect knowledge and theory to practice by combining service with reflection in a structured learning environment. Students learn the rules of engagement, the means of communication, the need for constant revision, feedback, and adherence to the agreed upon timeline. Students develop awareness of potential obstacles in the process by reflection, conversation, and readjustment. The semester culminates in a presentation of the final products and reflection on the process.
