If Applying for Community-Engaged:

  • Describe the community-engaged activity or exchange.
  • How will any reflections (if used) connect engagement to course content? If not using reflections, how will you connect engagement to course content?
  • Would you like to speak with a DSL team member about developing this into a service-learning course? (Yes/No/Other)

If Applying for Service-Learning:

  • What service experiences will lead to the required 20 hours? Which community partners have you approached or considered?
  • How will you work collaboratively with partners to ensure mutual benefit?
  • How will the service relate to major learning objectives (knowledge, attitudes, skills, dispositions)?
  • Will coursework include critical reflection on ethical and civic dimensions of the service? (Yes/No/Other)
  • How will you prepare students for service (readings, discussions, speakers, training, orientations)?
  • What assignments/activities will help students reflect on connections between service and course objectives, including ethical/civic issues?
